These city assessments for the most part are overestimations of value. Houses depreciate over time. Land value can increase depending on demand. Of course blanket rezoning will increase land values. Maybe that is why ours went up 10%? Comparing an older house to the most recent highest sale in the neighborhood is not a fair way of valuing it.
